Lacoste

January 12th, 2010 - Posted in Blog, Luxury Sector

This one has slipped through the net, as I posted this video seeing that I’m a fan of Beck, but also this video it’s brilliant – plus there’s some nice product placement with Charlotte Gainsbourg wearing a Lacoste tennis outfit

Onitsuka

October 14th, 2009 - Posted in Blog, Luxury Sector

Been away for a while, laptop’s broken at home and work’s been manic, so to ease myself back into blogging and due to some inspiration from a friend of mine I thought I’d post about a brand that does digital so well.

I’m pretty sure I got sent this back in 2002 and it looks as good then as it does now, it didn’t adhere to the strict time limits of current virals:

Running Fish Gutter

I love this as well, it kind of pulls you in and doesn’t let go, the animation is incredible as is the story, the sound effects and sound track:

Zodiac Race

And finally Onitsuka Tiger’s website that seems to be pulling on the collective voice of the blogosphere, letting bloggers use their blogs as pixels to create a virtual Onitsuka trainer, with the majority of blogs focusing on Japanese culture.

It’s nice but I can’t help feeling that maybe the bloggers should help drive users back to the trainer, rather than it just being a one way street?

Ways to Wear It

September 1st, 2009 - Posted in Luxury Sector

Apologies for the lack of posts over the last 2 weeks, I’ve been away on my summer vacation.

I wanted to post the ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality on the American Apparel site, as it’s a great way to show real value in a product, especially when everyone is watching their wallet.

The ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality offers the potential consumer with a real argument to purchasing a garment, as if you can wear it in 12 different styles, á la ‘Le Sac Dress’ then you’re getting your money’s worth.

These different styles are demonstrated using video content, both on the American Apparel site and on the American Apparel YouTube channel.

The ‘Ways to Wear It’ service also lends itself to building a community, as users can send in their tips on how to wear different products.

Check it out below

Communicating at 10 Levels

August 11th, 2009 - Posted in Luxury Sector

Created by Ji-Lee, this diagram shows the levels of communication that we reserve for our closest friends. It highlights how the digital age has provided us with a number of communication tools to constantly stay connected, with Facebook and Twitter existing as their own channels – rather than being classed as just social media.

Great Music ‘Mockumentary’

July 29th, 2009 - Posted in Luxury Sector

We quite often have ‘Mocky’ playing in the office, generally my doing, so this post may be a little biased but I love this mini documentary for the launch of Mocky’s second album Saskamodie.

The film’s direction is great, with a nice tongue in cheek approach, which limits the opportunity to alienate non fans of Mocky, creating potential viral collateral. Product placement is perfect, with a number of tracks being played throughout the film, supported by reviews from well known music artists.

I really like it, but as I said I might be slightly biased.
