Apologies for the lack of posts over the last 2 weeks, I’ve been away on my summer vacation.

I wanted to post the ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality on the American Apparel site, as it’s a great way to show real value in a product, especially when everyone is watching their wallet.

The ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality offers the potential consumer with a real argument to purchasing a garment, as if you can wear it in 12 different styles, á la ‘Le Sac Dress’ then you’re getting your money’s worth.

These different styles are demonstrated using video content, both on the American Apparel site and on the American Apparel YouTube channel.

The ‘Ways to Wear It’ service also lends itself to building a community, as users can send in their tips on how to wear different products.

Check it out below

Produced for the Japanese market, it makes viewing the products and purchasing them easy. I also love the noise that the scrolling page makes when you move over one of the individual artists, it’s like bubble wrap very addictive.

Also found out today that Uniqlo are launching an area within Selfridges, London. An interesting move for the luxury retailer, but proof that great design doesn’t always need to cost the world or maybe evidence that the recession is hitting this London giant hard, by offering contemporary affordable (very affordable) design Selfridges can maintain footfall?
