Lacoste
January 12th, 2010 - Posted in Blog, Luxury SectorThis one has slipped through the net, as I posted this video seeing that I’m a fan of Beck, but also this video it’s brilliant – plus there’s some nice product placement with Charlotte Gainsbourg wearing a Lacoste tennis outfit

Gucci iPhone App
November 2nd, 2009 - Posted in Luxury SectorLaunching at the same time as the Gucci Icon Temporary project, Gucci’s iPhone app is refreshingly not just an e-commerce tool.
Offering content that includes bespoke music playlists, fashion shows (video), unique photography, product information, store listings and the ability to mix your own music, this app promotes frequency even when the user isn’t in the market for a handbag or a pair of lofas.
Creating an app that doesn’t just offer another e-commerce channel shows Gucci to be progressive in this area, producing a tool that allows consumers to get under the skin of the Gucci brand, to really identify with it and therefore appreciate why at quite a lean time Gucci should be a purchase consideration.
Ways to Wear It
September 1st, 2009 - Posted in Luxury SectorApologies for the lack of posts over the last 2 weeks, I’ve been away on my summer vacation.
I wanted to post the ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality on the American Apparel site, as it’s a great way to show real value in a product, especially when everyone is watching their wallet.
The ‘Ways to Wear It’ functionality offers the potential consumer with a real argument to purchasing a garment, as if you can wear it in 12 different styles, á la ‘Le Sac Dress’ then you’re getting your money’s worth.
These different styles are demonstrated using video content, both on the American Apparel site and on the American Apparel YouTube channel.
The ‘Ways to Wear It’ service also lends itself to building a community, as users can send in their tips on how to wear different products.

Hermes Boutique Digital Intro is Great!
May 12th, 2009 - Posted in Luxury SectorNow usually we’d question the use of an intro within an e-commerce environment, but it would seem that Hermes can’t do much wrong on their site and this is no exception.
The intro isn’t an intro for intro sake; it educates as to the process of three of their scents and has made me consider the brand when I’m next in the market for a new cologne.
I’ve been trying to upload the image of the site all morning, but for some reason I can’t, so best if you check it out yourself, it’s definitely worth it:
Hermes Q1 sales get lift from bags, currencies
May 8th, 2009 - Posted in Luxury SectorHermes have just realised their revenue figures for quarter 1 and have shown a growth predominately driven by silk scarves, fashion accessories and their saddlery division.
Other sectors such as perfumes (30% drop due to exchange rates), watches and tableware dropped, where wholesale turnover was affected by distributors cutting down their inventory, reflecting the benefit of brands that sell through actual stores rather than concessions.
LVMH’s fashion and leather goods sales rose by 4%, with watches and jewellery dropping by 41%.
Gucci saw growth in leather goods by 2%, however overall they saw a drop by 3.4%.
Online fashion retailers see 31% growth in traffic
March 15th, 2009 - Posted in Luxury SectorExperian’s ‘Engaging Online with the Empowered Customer’ report has shown that in 2008 fashion retail sites saw a 31% growth in traffic . Alongside only a 1% growth in traditional catalogue adoption, the research demonstrated the shift by consumers to a more digital focus when researching for fashion.
The report demonstrated that although growth in traffic had been exceptional, fashion retailers did not capitalise on repeat purchasing, with 45% of customers making just one purchase. The report also showed that just under a third of customers made up almost 70% of the revenue, customers that should be identified and encouraged to make more frequent visits.
Experian felt that retailers and home-shopping companies were not achieving customer expectations of multi-channel. It called on them to ‘blend’ online and offline activities to offer customers a better experience and encourage repeat purchases.
“Greater emphasis needs to be placed on the exploitation and application of existing data assets,” said Marie Myles, director of marketing for Experian’s integrated marketing division. “The enhanced insight derived from this approach and the move to a coordinated customer contact strategy will lead to more profitable and longer relationships between brands and consumers.”
Adidas have shown that they understand that the savy consumer researches fashion before making a purchase, in this current economical climate all purchasing is becoming more and more considered. Their new look book is very slick and with the occasional play of ‘ beggin’ from their TV ad blends the offline with the online very well.
